Shekau Condemns GEJ And Buhari.. Calls them Infidels...

The Boko Haram Islamist sect on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack on a multinational military base in Baga, Borno State, during which about 2,000 people were killed on January 3, this year.

The sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, in a new video on You tube also taunted Presidents Paul Biya of Cameroon, Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger and Idris Deby of Chad. He also expressed disdain for President Goodluck Jonathan, and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 14 presidential election, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), describing them as infidels.

Shekau, who spoke in Hausa said, “Jonathan, you are in trouble. And Buhari, do you think he is a true Muslim? He’s an infidel.” The insurgents, who invaded Baga early this year, razed many buildings and homes in the week that followed, shooting civilians as they tried to flee, witnesses said.

Some local officials put the death toll as high as 2,000, although the military said it was 150. The video was in the trademark Boko Haram style, with the bearded man claiming to be Shekau in combat fatigues and surrounded by masked gunmen. “We are the ones that carried out the attack and it is just the tip of the iceberg. There are more coming,” he said. On the weapons the insurgents seized from Baga, he said they were enough to annihilate Nigeria.

Soldiers fled the area after the nearby army base, which is the headquarters of a multinational force comprising troops from Chad, Niger and Cameroon, by Lake Chad was overrun. Chad and Cameroon are being drawn into the fight against Boko Haram, but mistrust has hampered cooperation.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court’s prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, has condemned the escalation of “appalling levels of violence” in the North-East and warned that she would prosecute members of any party responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Bensouda said her office had continued a preliminary examination into allegations that Boko Haram extremists were killing large numbers of civilians, using girls and boys to participate in the conflict and forcing massive numbers of people from their homes. She also warned the Federal Government of its obligation to prosecute crimes that “deeply shock the conscience of humanity.“

No one should doubt my resolve, if need be, to prosecute those individuals most responsible for war crimes or crimes against humanity,” Bensouda said in a statement from the court’s headquarters in The Hague on Tuesday. Boko Haram has increased the ferocity and tempo of its attacks in recent weeks, with international outrage over reports that as many as 2,000 civilians may have been systematically slaughtered in the January 3, 2015 attack on Baga town and the military base at the border with Cameroon.

The sect had also increased attacks on Cameroon, raising fears that the conflict was spreading and prompting the country to deploy troops to defend its borders with Nigeria. Niger’s Foreign Minister, Bazoum Mohamed, told a meeting on Tuesday of the Economic Community of West African States to discuss a collective response to Boko Haram, saying that the Islamic militants are no longer a Nigerian problem but they threaten the security of the region.

[TRAGIC] Lady Rape To Death In Kogi State By Hoodlums..

Miss Grace Ebiloma, who was on her way from a vigil was gang-raped by hoodlums in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital. The lady was on her way home from the church when the hoodlums seized her and dragged her into the bush where they raped her.

According to a statement by the evangelist Enechojo Agene of Uleju Ojo Power House Ministry, the lady had gone to a nearby structure opposite the church to rest after the vigil, when the hoodlums struck, raping and killing her.

The statement said that the hoodlums raped her to death, stressing that the body of the victim was recovered from the bush after a search was conducted. Envangelist Agene described the action of the hoodlums as heinous, calling on God in heaven to visit vengeance on the perpetrators of this gruesome act.

Agene also called on security operatives to intensify efforts at bringing the hoodlums to book, noting that those who perpetrated the crime should go unpunished. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Elvis Aguebor, said that the matter had not been reported to the state headquarters of the command.

4 More Soldiers Condemn To Death By Firing Squad By The Nigerian Army..

The General Military Court Martial set up by the authorities of the Nigerian Army to try some soldiers of the 111 Special Forces battalion , Maiduguri, have again condemned four soldiers to death by firing squad.

Investigations revealed that the President of the Court, Brig.- Gen Musa Yusuf, found the four soldiers guilty of conspiracy to commit mutiny and thus sentenced them to death. It was learnt that the court condemned the four soldiers to death on December 24, 2014.

The GCM had earlier convicted 54 of the 59 soldiers to death after finding them guilty of conspiracy to commit mutiny on December 17, 2014. Five soldiers from the 111 Special Forces Battalion who were tried alongside the 54 for allegedly refusing to obey an order from their commander, were found to be innocent of the charges and were discharged and acquitted.

Prior to the conviction of the 54 soldiers, another GCM had convicted 12 out of 18 soldiers tried for mutiny on September 14, 2014. The conviction of the four soldiers brought the total number of soldiers convicted and sentenced to death to 70.

Meanwhile, authoritative military sources said that soldiers of the Nigerian Army were being tried for administrative offences in designated military formations across the country. Investigation revealed that the Commanding Officer of the Ojo Garrison Command, the General Officer Commanding of the 82 Division, Enugu and his counterpart in Kaduna are trying officers for various acts of misdemeanor on a daily basis.

These Court Martials are in addition to the General Court Martials established by the authorities of the Nigerian Army to try allegations of acts of misdemeanour against soldiers involved in the ongoing counter terrorism campaign in the North-East.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Olajide Laleye, had said in a press briefing on Wednesday that the military authorities had set up Court Martials in three military formations in Jos, Abuja and Lagos to try acts of misdemeanour emanating from the ongoing counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations in the North-East.

The GCMS are domiciled in the Ikeja Cantonment Lagos, The Headquarters of the 3rd Armoured Division, Maxweel Kobe Military Cantonment, Jos and the Nigerian Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja. On Friday, Laleye commented on the reported dismissal of 203 soldiers after alleged summary night trial, saying it was not true that the Army conducted secret night trial to decide the fate of soldiers.

He said while he was neither confirming nor refuting the story, commanders of the Nigerian Army had been trying soldiers for various emerging offences in adherence with military laws and long established procedures guiding the operations of the Armed Forces.

A Sydney police spokeswoman has confirmed that there were fatalities during a hostage crisis that ended when officers stormed a downtown cafe. Although The spokeswoman would not say how many people died or if the hostage taker was among them.

The woman, who could not be identified under police policy, said an investigation is underway because police were involved in an incident in which people died.

Heavily armed police stormed the cafe in the heart of Sydney early Tuesday, ending a siege by an Iranian-born gunman who had held an unknown number of hostages for more than 16 hours.

Over 20 Girls Abducted In Lassa Local Govt. Of Maiduguri..

Over 20 girls have reportedly been abducted by Boko Haram members after an attack on Lassa community in Borno state. According to a resident of the community, Daniel Ibrahim, who spoke with Sahara Reporters, the sect members abducted the girls on Wednesday Dec. 3rd after storming their community brandishing all manner of weapons including tanks and explosives, shooting sporadically, and burning houses..

“They abducted more than 20 girls from our town and killed many people, mostly old men and women. They burnt almost half of the town before they left. Those of us who were lucky fled, but they massacred aged ones & younger men they could catch" he said.

Mr. Ibrahim, who further went on revealed that the Islamist fighters had been advancing towards Lassa since late November, but had met stiff resistance from determined local fighters until Wednesday.

He said the Islamist insurgents attacked the town last Wednesday in a wave of hundreds of fighters with a variety of heavy weaponry, including tanks and explosives. They were finally able to overwhelm the local opposition and capture the town.“They burnt almost half of the town before they left.

He said the town fell to the insurgents because the residents’ appeals to security agencies to deploy more troops and to step up land and air operations were ignored. “That’s why the town is now in the hands of Boko Haram,” he said.

Phil Hughes died on November 27th two days after he was struck in the back of the neck by a ball during a cricket game in Sydney, Australia. He died just three days to his 26th birthday.

The funeral was attended by over 1,000 people including many national and sporting dignitaries as well as the Prime Minister of Australia, Tony Abbott. It was also broadcast live on Australian TV.

Gunmen in Kenya this morning Dec 2nd attacked a quarry at Mandera town in North Kenya, killing 36 Christians in the same area last, The attacked took place very early this morning while the workers were sleeping.

According to multiple eye witnesses, the gunmen stormed the place, ordered all the non-Muslims, about 36 of them, to step away from the Muslims and then shot them all dead. One witness told Reuters that four ofthe victims had been beheaded.

Kenya's military troop and the Red cross have since arrived the scene of the attack.

Breaking News: Boko Haram Raid "Damaturu" Yobe State As Channels Reporter Goes Missing...

Its now turning into a daily Affair to hear of Boko Haram in the news.. A fierce fire fights between security agents and Boko Haram fighters that started around 4:45 AM Nigerian time on Gujiba road in Damaturu the Yobe state capital has continued unabated several hours after it started.

A resident told Saharareporters over the phone that a large contingent of militants arrived the state capital and began massive shooting and bombing in the city.

A journalist with Channels television is reportedly missing.The militants have also attacked  schools, a mobile police base and several state institutions in the raid.They are reportedly approaching the government house with the aim of taking over the state capital.

England Ex Football Star David Beckham has reportedly been injured in a car crash after picking up his son Brooklyn from a under-16s football game in London.

From the British tabloid The Sun reports the former England captain, 39, is thought to have hurt his shoulder in the smash outside London Colney, near St Albans, Hertfordshire.

His eldest son had just finished playing a match at the training centre for Arsenal’s youth team against Brighton’s Under 18s.Thomas Cadman, who plays for Brighton under-16s, said on Twitter: “Weird to play against Brooklyn Beckham earlier. Even weirder to be currently stuck behind David Beckham as he has crashed his car.”

While the cause of the crash has not been released, The Telegraph reports that the airbags in Beckham’s Audi deployed and most of the damage was to the driver’s side of the football star’s vehicle.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes confirmed it yesterday that winger Victor Moses has gone back to his parent club Chelsea FC to undergo treatment on a thigh problem, which will force the Nigerian international out until the new year. Moses was substituted after 56 minutes of the Potters’ 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Burnley last weekend after picking up the injury during the game and is expected to be out for between six to eight weeks.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently three months into a season-long loan spell at the Britannia Stadium but has returned to Chelsea in order to have treatment on the injury. Hughes said ahead of the Premier League trip to Stoke City: “Victor Moses has gone back to Chelsea now for his rehab following his thigh injury.” The news was also confirmed by Stoke City’s official Twitter feed.

Update From the Kano Central Mosque BOMBLAST... Death Toll Surpass 100..

This is getting serious as deaths toll from yesterday bombing of the Kano Central Mosque have reached at least 100, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Officials of the agency also stated that they expected the death toll to rise as more than 150 people were critically injured in the attack.

A security source told Sahara Reporters this evening that at least three bombs exploded outside of the crowded mosque a few minutes before the commencement of Friday’s J’umaat prayers, the main prayer of the Islamic faith.

The source then disclosed that the militants who had planted the explosives began to shoot as the Muslim faithful fled in panic. The shooting ended only after armed security agents arrived to engage the militants, killing at least six of them... So far no group have claime

Breaking News: 10 Soldiers And 30 Hunters Fear Dead In Mubi, Adamawa State

This is damn so sad, Just when things are progressing Boko Haram militants today detonated a roadside bomb after ambushing a combination of soldiers and hunters in Mararaba near Mubi in Adamawa state.

According to sahara reporters At least 10 soldiers and 35 hunters were killed in the ambush that happened around 6PM Nigerian time according eyewitnesses and military sources. A Nigerian army source said they could not immediately comment on the level of casualty but stated they were aware of the attack and still investigating.

Mararaba is 18 kilometers from Mubi, a township recently overrun by Boko Haram  sect militants. However, a push by hunters backed by Nigerian troops forced Boko Haram to beat a retreat in the area. The army source also said some 100 Boko Haram militants have been killed in the area between Sunday and Wednesday night in renewed operations to recover territory from the militants.

Breaking News: University Of Jos Shutdown Indefinitely..

I saw it coming.. i only hope they resolve this problem quickly even though I still believe a peaceful protest should have been done after the exam..

The University of was shut down indefinitely after a protest by students over hike in fees turned violent. The protest started Monday morning with students holding university administrators hostage in their offices.

Security officials where later called in today when  the protest continued to calm the situation, But a soldier attached to the Special Taskforce on Jos crisis (STF), instead of calming the situation opened fire on protesters leaving at least 8 students with gun wounds including a blind one.

The University Registrar, Jully Dandam, after a hurriedly convened management meeting, announced the institution will remain closed till further notice. The school management also ordered all students to vacate the campus before 2 p.m. today as a way of halting the violence and stopping the crisis from spreading to other parts of the state.

None of the students has died, but some are presently receiving treatment. The Special Taskforce (STF) spokesperson has however denied a soldier with them shot the wounded students, but confirmed they had gun wounds, but might be from other security officers invited by the school management.
